What is rea lo 40?

REA LO 40® (Urea 40%) Cream and Lotion is a keratolytic emollient, which is a gentle, yet effective, tissue softener for skin. Each gram contains 400 mg Urea as the active ingredient and the following inactive ingredients: purified water, emulsifying wax, glycerin, isopropyl myristate, sorbitol, neopentyl glycol dicaprylate/dicaprate, tridecyl stearate, tridecyl trimellitate and dimethyl isosorbide.

How should I use rea lo 40?

REA LO 40® (Urea 40%) Cream and Lotion is useful for the treatment of hyperkeratotic conditions such as dry, rough skin, xerosis, ichthyosis, skin cracks and fissures, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, keratoses and calluses.

Apply to affected skin twice per day, or as directed by your physician. Rub in until completely absorbed.

What are the warnings of rea lo 40?

The glucocorticoid activity of megestrol acetate oral suspension has not been fully evaluated. Clinical cases of new onset diabetes mellitus, exacerbation of pre-existing diabetes mellitus, and overt Cushing’s Syndrome have been reported in association with the chronic use of megestrol acetate. In addition, clinical cases of adrenal insufficiency have been observed in patients receiving or being withdrawn from chronic megestrol acetate therapy in the stressed and non-stressed state. Furthermore, adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) stimulation testing has revealedthe frequent occurrence of asymptomatic pituitary-adrenal suppression in patients treated with chronic megestrol acetate therapy. Therefore, the possibility of adrenal insufficiency should be considered in any patient receiving or being withdrawn from chronic megestrol acetate therapy who presents with symptoms and/or signs suggestive of hypoadrenalism (e.g., hypotension, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, or weakness) in either the stressed or non-stressed state. Laboratory evaluation for adrenal insufficiency and consideration of replacement or stress doses of a rapidly acting glucocorticoid are strongly recommended in such patients. Failure to recognize inhibition of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis may result in death. Finally, in patients who are receiving or being withdrawn from chronic megestrol acetate therapy, consideration should be given to the use of empiric therapy with stress doses of a rapidly acting glucocorticoid in conditions of stress or serious intercurrent illness (e.g., surgery, infection).

Clinical Pharmacology

Urea cream and lotion gently dissolves the intracellular matrix which results in loosening of the horny layer of the skin and shedding of scaly skin at regular intervals, thereby softening hyperkeratotic areas of the skin.

Known hypersensitivity to any of the listed ingredients.

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, lips or mucous membranes.

As DIFFERIN Gel has the potential to produce local irritation in some patients, concomitant use of other potentially irritating topical products (medicated or abrasive soaps and cleansers, soaps and cosmetics that have a strong drying effect, and products with high concentrations of alcohol, astringents, spices, or lime) should be approached with caution. Particular caution should be exercised in using preparations containing sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid in combination with DIFFERIN Gel. If these preparations have been used, it is advisable not to start therapy with DIFFERIN Gel until the effects of such preparations in the skin have subsided.

Urea cream and lotion should be used as directed by a physician and should not be used to treat conditions other than those for which it was prescribed. If redness or irritation occurs, discontinue use.
