The coronavirus has quickly made even the most everyday tasks dangerous for many individuals. It would be great if individuals at risk could simply stay inside until the pandemic passes, but this just isn’t possible. Everyone has essential trips they must take to places like the grocery store, the doctor’s office, and work. So how can you stay safe on your trips? Here are three tips that you can try.
Limit Travel to Essentials Only
As stated previously, the best way to avoid contamination is to avoid contact with others. Unless a trip is necessary, don’t do it. Now is not a safe time to be going on vacation. Don’t go hang out with friends or family. Limit all travel to trips that you absolutely must take. When you do go out, go straight to your destination, finish your work quickly and then return home again.
Follow CDC Recommendations
One of the most important things to do to remain safe is follow CDC and local government recommendations. The CDC now recommends you wear a cloth face mask or covering when you go out in public. This is to help prevent the spread of germs should an individual begin coughing or sneezing. It can also help filter out germs from the air that you are breathing in. Other important recommendations are to maintain 6 feet between you and other individuals. When meeting in a group, make sure that your group has fewer than ten people. It would also be a wise move to question anyone in your group to ensure that they have been acting responsibly.
Pick-up Services
If you need food or other items, try to work with an establishment that is offering a pick-up service. Most grocery stores are offering to prepare your online orders and then allow you to pick up the items from the curb. Even restaurants that normally do not have drive-thru options are now implementing curb-side pickup.
If for some reason, you must visit an establishment that is not advertising a pickup service, call ahead. Ask the employees if they would be able to arrange a special pickup for you. When you do collect an item by pickup, make sure that you remain in your car while employees bring out your merchandise. Allow the employees to place your goods in a proper location and leave before you retrieve them.
Living in quarantine is not easy. But it is important that you remember the benefits that come through these measures. Because of social distancing, there have been far fewer infections and deaths. These actions are buying scientists the time they need to develop vaccines that save lives. So make sure that you are careful and try some of these tips to ensure the safety of yourself and others during this pandemic.
